Chris Biehn

Professional Background

Chris Biehn has over 38 years of experience as a leader in higher and secondary education, with a focus on engagement, philanthropy, external relations, board development, leadership coaching, and strategic planning. He has served as the chief advancement officer at three prominent institutions: Ithaca College, Drew University, and Williston Northampton School.

Current Role

Chris is the vice president for institutional advancement at St. John Fisher University, where he oversees philanthropy and engagement. He is responsible for advancing the mission and vision of the University and enhancing its reputation and visibility through programming that connects alumni and other constituents to the University to support the success of our students. He works closely with the president, the board of trustees, and the Cabinet and senior leadership team to develop and implement strategic initiatives and goals. He arrived at Fisher in 2020 and oversaw the successful completion of the Fisher Forward campaign, raising over $130 million for annual giving, endowment and capital projects between 2015 and 2025.

Achievements

Chris has led successful campaigns, increased philanthropic and engagement results, created a student to alumni paradigm, successfully integrated AI innovations into advancement work and developed strategies for inclusion and organizational development. He has also coached and mentored many advancement professionals and leaders and has been recognized for his contributions to the field. He is a member of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) and has served on several committees and boards.

Personal Interests

Chris loves travel, the Adirondacks, snow and waterskiing, reading, and organizational design and leadership. He is passionate about learning and growing and believes in the power of education to transform lives and society. He is also a follower of Stoic philosophy, and strives to live by and incorporate its virtues of courage, temperance, justice and wisdom.
