Dr. Slish received her B.S. in Pharmacy, and Pharm.D. degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo. She completed a PGY-1 residency at the University of Rochester Medical Center, and PGY-2 residency in Infectious Diseases at the Mayo Clinic-Rochester Minnesota. After completion of her residency, she was an Assistant Professor at the State University of New York at Buffalo. Her clinical practice site at Erie County Medical Center, she served as clinical specialist in infectious diseases, and was the director for the HIV/ID PGY-2 residency for six years. In 2007, Dr. Slish joined St. John Fisher University, Wegmans School of Pharmacy as an associate professor of pharmacy practice.
Dr. Slish provides clinical pharmacy services and precepts pharmacy students at the University of Rochester Medical Center - Highland Hospital. She has been part of the Infectious Disease consult service, for the past 16 years.
Dr. Slish has trained over 1000 pharmacy students and pharmacists as the site coordinator for the APhA Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery Certificate Program at St. John Fisher University. Dr. Slish has also served as a trainer for Delivery of Medication Therapy Management Services in the Community Certificate Program. During the pandemic, she worked part-time as one of the vaccine coordinators for the NYS department of health.
Dr. Slish is the former co-owner of Palmyra Pharmacy LLC in Palmyra NY, and she owns Lincoln Hearts & Associates, Inc, Home Health Care Agency. Prior to ownership, she has worked per-diem as a pharmacist for the past 25 years for local community pharmacies including Wegmans Pharmacy, Tops Pharmacy, Walgreens Pharmacy, and CVS.
She has been highly involved in pharmacy organizations and advocacy and is a past president of Pharmacist Association of Western New York and Pharmacist Society of the State of New York. Dr. Slish holds many memberships in multiple state and national pharmacy organizations.
Dr. Slish has served the department/school, community, and pharmacy profession in many ways. She is the current chair of the Student Success Committee, and former Chair of the WSOP Diversity Committee. Currently, she is an active member of the Experiential Preceptor Advisory Committee.
Dr. Slish is actively involved in service to her practice site as demonstrated by her membership in Highland Hospital’s Infection Control Committee, Antimicrobial Stewardship Team, and a member of the University of Rochester Medical Center Antibiotic Stewardship Subcommittee.
Dr. Slish’s research interests include antibiotic stewardship, clostridium difficile, antibiotic use in bone cement, HIV/HCV drug interactions, and immunizations. She is an author, or co-author on 43 publications of which 23 are peer reviewed from high impact journals.
