Narrative

Dr. Daniel Connolly is the dean of the School of Business at St. John Fisher University in Rochester, NY, and he is a recognized global thought leader in hospitality information technology. His teaching, research, and consulting interests focus on business strategy and the strategic application of information technology and electronic commerce for business advantage. He frequently presents his work at academic and industry conferences around the world and has authored or co-authored numerous publications. His book Technology Strategies for the Hospitality Industry was the industry’s first book on technology strategy.

Before joining St. John Fisher University, Dr. Connolly was a professor of management and past dean of the Zimpleman College of Business at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. In addition, he has held leadership and faculty appointments at Portland State University and the University of Denver. Before joining academia, Dr. Connolly spent nearly 8 years working at Marriott International’s corporate headquarters in Washington, DC as an information systems analyst. He has also consulted with numerous organizations in the hospitality, health care, and technology sectors and has more than 10 years of experience in hotel and restaurant operations. Dr. Connolly is a member of the American Hotel and Lodging Association’s Global Technology 100 and is actively engaged in community service in various leadership capacities. These include board positions with Junior Achievement of Central Upstate New York, the Small Business Council of Rochester, Elevate Rochester, and the Finger Lakes Community College Business Administration Advisory Board. He is a past president of the Board of Directors for Children and Families of Iowa and the MidAmerican Business Deans Association.
