Use of the University Brand

The St. John Fisher University brand is a valuable asset. It stands for academic excellence, community, service, character, and value. As members of the campus community, we have a responsibility to represent the Fisher brand proudly both to the public and internally.

One of the ways we can do this is to ensure that all communications produced by Fisher—publications, advertisements, the website, internal and external letters and memos, social media content, event flyers, and more—follow this policy and comply with our Style Guide.

Use of University branding without permission/approval from the Office of Marketing and Communications is prohibited and may be in violation of trademark or licensing agreements. 

As personal gain from the use of University name, brand, or resources (except as allowed by Name, Image, and Likeness laws) is prohibited, commercial gain from University resources is also prohibited. Selling services or goods, distributing advertising materials, circulars or product samples, or engaging in any other conduct relating to any outside business interest for for-profit benefit on University property or using University resources is prohibited.

Official University Logos

The official St. John Fisher University logo suite is the primary visual representation of the institution. The logos can be displayed in cardinal red, black, or white. The logo should never be recreated or typeset, and should not be produced in any other colors or tints of the approved colors. Only official logo files should be used in all marketing and communications materials.

The primary logo is the preferred graphic to use in most applications. The secondary logos may be used in some cases when a horizontal or vertical application is preferred.

Always present the logo in its entirety unless using the steeple icon. In addition, never outline or add a drop shadow to the logo. Do not stretch or distort the logo in any way.

Logo Usage and Treatment

In order to maintain the integrity of the St. John Fisher University brand, please follow these guidelines:

  • Do not configure the elements into a different logo.
  • Do not crop or remove any part of the logo.
  • Do not distort the logo.
  • Do not tilt the logo in any direction.
  • Do not add any shadows, effects, or other elements to the logo.
  • Do not alter the proportions of the logo.
  • Do not duplicate any part of the logo to create a pattern.
  • Do not recreate the type or substitute another typeface.
  • Do not surround logo with other competing shapes.
  • Do not use AI to generate or alter the logo, University seal, Cardinal, etc.

Requesting Use of Logos

To request use of the St. John Fisher University logo, athletics logo, or Cardinal head logo, submit a Logo Request form. We will review all requests and send you the appropriate file, if approved.
