Guided by our Catholic heritage, the Office of Campus Ministry welcomes students of all faith traditions and provides opportunities for worship, prayer, and service for the entire campus community.
The Office of Campus Ministry offers faith-based programs and activities to foster community and celebrate the divine spark within all members of the Fisher family, regardless of religious tradition or spiritual beliefs. All are welcome to visit the Fr. Joseph A. Trovato, CSB Campus Ministry Center for quiet reflection or social connection.
St. John Fisher College was founded in 1947 through the efforts of the Most Reverend James E. Kearney, then Bishop of Rochester, New York; Father Hugh Haffey, a Basilian priest from Toronto; and the Congregation of St. Basil. In July 2022, the institution received university status and is now St. John Fisher University.
Named after Saint John Fisher, a Catholic martyr and the Bishop of Rochester in Kent, England, the founders declared the new College would be guided by the educational philosophy of the Basilian Fathers and their motto, "Teach me goodness, discipline, and knowledge."
The Office of Campus Ministry is supportive of the spiritual and religious experience of each person. Rooted in our Catholic and Basilian heritage, we foster the charisms of Goodness, Discipline, and Knowledge to promote religious expression, peace, justice, and a culture of service.
“ The Office of Campus Ministry provided endless support during my time on campus which has helped me grow throughout the years. ”
“ It was clear that the word service meant a lot to the campus community. I also chose Fisher because of the friendly atmosphere and the opportunity for a more intimate education experience in terms of class size. ”
