Events and Traditions
While every student’s Fisher experience is their own, some shared experiences unite Cardinals across generations. We encourage students to become part of these Fisher traditions during their time on campus!
Fall Traditions
First Friday
All new and returning students gather on Keough Quad for music and games to celebrate completing the first week of classes on campus.
Courage Bowl
Fisher and SUNY Brockport football teams raise awareness and funds for Camp Good Days through the Courage Bowl. Camp Good Days selects honorary coaches and cheerleaders for each team, and at the end of the game the Teddi Trophy, named in memory of Teddi Mervis, Gary Mervis’ daughter and the inspiration for Camp Good Days, is presented. The trophy is inscribed each year with the names of the honorary coaches and cheerleaders, and the names of one player from each team who displays exceptional leadership and sportsmanship. Fisher and Brockport alternate hosting the game.
Fall Fest
Taking place during Family Weekend and hosted by the Student Activities Board, Fall Fest invites students and families to come together for tons of fun fall festivities.
Spring Traditions
Spirit of Identity Week
The spring semester kicks off with a full week of events to recognize and celebrate the messages of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Snow Day
A mid-winter festival with s’mores, grilled cheese and soup, fire pits, crafts, and more!
Teddi Dance for Love
The Teddi Dance for Love is a 24-hour dance marathon to benefit Camp Good Days, an organization for children and their families dealing with cancer and other life challenges. Fisher students have been hosting the Teddi Dance since 1982. Over 175 members, led by a student chair and vice chair, the Teddi Dance for Love committee raises funds year-round and announces the final amount raised at the end of the dance.
Spring Event
The Student Activities Board plans an exciting spring event each April with music, games, and food!
Senior Week
After final exams and before commencement, graduating seniors come together for a week of events concluding their undergraduate experience and welcoming them to the alumni community. Traditional events include the senior brunch with a champagne toast, Last Lecture by a nominated faculty member, the formal senior gala, and a Fisher for Life celebration.
