Countdown to Commencement

Each year, Fisher recognizes members of the graduating class in the “Countdown to Commencement” series where rising graduates are nominated by faculty and staff for the impact they have made on the campus community.

Emma Cooper

As a student-athlete and captain for the women’s field hockey team here at Fisher, Emma Cooper has demonstrated success both on and off the field. In addition to her wins in athletics, she has also excelled in her biochemistry work, including landing a summer research role at a major cancer research institute.

Nate Ripple

For Nate Ripple, Fisher's MBA program became far more than just a return to his alma mater. From serving on the MBA Student Advisory Council to being inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma, he had once again made an impact on campus - and he sees the MBA program making an impact in his career journey.

Kessan VanGronigen

During her time at Fisher, Kessan VanGronigen has made an impact on campus, and around the world! In addition to activities such as producing Spirit of Identity Week or working with PRIMA, Black Student Union, and the Cardinal Courier, she has also made a positive difference through Jamaican Advantage thru Sports for Youth camp (JASY) and by getting involved during her study abroad experience in South Africa.

Natalie Byrd

Since her arrival at Fisher, Natalie Byrd has made a major impact on campus. In addition to co-founding The Body Talk and working on some notable research, she's helped create an inclusive environment on campus and created the Psych Stats Toolkit website, which is available to all students.

Emma Kane

As a captain on Fisher’s women’s rowing team, Emma Kane has helped lead the team to world-class events, and has even helped make program history. As an honors student, she has made a positive impact in our community, and that work has inspired her path forward after graduation.

Degraj Suberi

Leadership and community-building are just some of the themes that pop out when you look at Degraj Suberi’s time at Fisher. At the University, he has taken on a number of roles to better the lives of his peers and the campus as a whole, including serving as a TRIO-SSS leader and president of Asian Student Union.

Dylan Stoller

Dylan Stoller approached his time in the School of Business as an opportunity - and he has certainly made the most of it! He has taken on leadership roles in the Dean's Student Advisory Council, Investment Club, and the American Marketing Association, just to name a few.

Emily Austin

For Emily Austin, her journey in the Wegmans School of Pharmacy has taught invaluable lessons in leadership, service, and so much more. Whether it’s her work with NCODA or APhA, or the research she’s contributing to along with faculty members in the School, she leaves behind a legacy of inspiration for future Fisher Pharmacists.

Brooke Eastman

A student journalist and editor, Brooke Eastman has helped lead Fisher’s Cardinal Courier into a new and exciting era. Whether it’s advancing new initiatives for the student publication or traveling overseas for new adventures, she says her experiences have helped her embrace challenges and new opportunities full-heartedly, even if it means, “doing it scared.”

Paige Denman

Biochemistry major Paige Denman’s research at St. John Fisher University has opened new doors on their academic journey - including presenting at a conference in Paris! Here on campus, Paige’s leadership of Fisher’s Gaming Club and eSports team has helped foster an inclusive and welcoming environment.

Emily McLaughlin

In addition to her achievements on the basketball court, Emily McLaughlin has also worked as a peer mentor, a member of the orientation team, and as part of Athlete-to-Athlete, advocating for mental health wellbeing among student-athletes.

Makena Evans

For Makena Evans, the pursuit of knowledge has helped grow bonds between academia and athletics at St. John Fisher University. Working with the University's Sports Science Team, Makena helped develop a dashboard to track student-athletes' performance that can help shed light on the effectiveness of training, injury recovery, and so much more.

Jenna Hoffman

In less than four years, Jenna Hoffman already has a full list of accomplishments from her time at St. John Fisher University.

Andrew Ortolani

Andrew Ortolani credits his Fisher advisors with helping him achieve new heights and take on new challenges during his time at the University. And he’s paid it forward by serving as a mentor figure to many other Cardinals, through his work with SAB, SGA, and as a student ambassador.
